The Rise of the Aircraft World
In 1947, Pan Am scheduled the first ever round-the-world flight. Tripp was talented at both winning for an airmail contracts and negotiating landing concessions with countries of interest. He even founded intercontinental hotels to accommodate his growing number of passengers. In 1965, he asked Boeing President Bill Allen to look into designing an aircraft that would dwarf anything on the market.
