The inability to accurately judge what's going to make us happy or unhappy bleeds over into our financial decision making. Look no further than the fire community for an example. The whole idea is that you really live on as little of your income as possible so that you can save and invest as much as possible. That way you have the option to leave work and live on your own investments in your thirties or forties.
