The Value of Counter Speech in Curving Hate

The study looked at the structure of conversations online and how these things played out. Kean: We see that after this request, the internet shows up, the organized counter speech movement. There is an increase in frequency of counter tweets and a slight decrease in the frequency of how hate tweets are replied to. It becomes much more difficult for individual counter speakers to balance this discourse. And so it seems to us, particular, that this organized element is important. So yeah, that's what we find.
