Deuteronomy - The Sabbath Commandment
In exodus, the rational behind the sabbath command is grounded in the story of creation. In deuteronomy it is a warning, and a stark one at that, to never go back to egypt. For six days you shall work. Here in deuteronomy, it's grounded in the stories of the exodus. Remember, you were slaves in egypt. At sinai, sabbath is about rhythm. In deuteremonia, it's about resistance. It's an invitation to delight in god, in his world and in your life in it.
