The History of the Moon Bishop
According to the Code of Canon Law drafted in 1917, any newly discovered territory falls under the jurisdiction of the bishop from where the discovery expedition originated. William Donald Borders had been appointed the first bishop of Orlando a year earlier. He would hold the title until his retirement in 1989 at the age of 75. These days the Bishop of the Diocese of Orlando is John Gerard Noonan but he has never publicly commented on the subject.
