Urinary Disorders - Are There Any Signs of Diabetes?
If you have a heme positive tip stick, but no red blood cells on urine microscopy, that could be because the tip stick is picking up the heme pigment itself. The classic presentation would be someone with severe acute kidney injury from say, crush syndrome who has a rise in creatinine and a urine olysis which shows hemepositive tip stick,but no red cells. That can be a really early and important sign of acute rhabdomyolysis. Another one to keep in mind is glucose should not typically be in the urine.
