The Rules of Trading Odd Lots
The firm was a member of an exchange and had to comply with certain rules. One rule would be based on exchange regulations, they didn't want us trading odd lots. Odd lot is 50 shares or 77 shares or 11 shares instead of 200 or 300. The penalty for doing so was basically some kind of fine levy to members of our firm.
