The Higgs Boson and Supersymmetry
The strongest argument in favor of supersymmetry has to do with what we call the hierarchy problem. It turns out there's a boson for every fermion and these both contribute in the same way to the Higgs, allowing their contributions to cancel. So you can think of the fermions giving us a positive contribution, the bosons giving us a negative contribution. And since they're related by the symmetries of supers asymmetry, they pull kind of in equal strengths and opposite directions,. leaving the mass of the Higgs relatively light.
