The Four Stages of Acetaminophen Poisoning

acetaminophen actually has a phenol group on it, and so phenols are caustic and they probably cause GI upset. So we get nausea, vomiting, anorexia, not usually diarrhea, but those initial symptomatology early on after their exposure. Then there's the quiescent phase, which is stage two up to the 24 hour mark. And then stage three, when they start getting really sick, that's usually after 24 or 48 hours.
