There's a kind of a parallel verse in the Book of Mormon, but I can't resist. The wages of sin is death, but after taxes are taken out, it's just kind of a tired feeling. It's what it feels like to be a sinner, that you feel constantly worn out because the thing that you're trying to do is impossible. To join God in the work is to do the work. There's no such commandment as perfectionism where you try to be perfect and thus lovable. Perfectionism is how sinners think about loving perfectly versus the kind of fantasy perfectionism we talk about with Christ.
