The Undersea Operation Mint Speed
Operation Mint Speed involved the corpse of Glinder Michael, a homeless Welshman who unknowingly took part in one of the greatest deception operations in history. The Soviets were completely confident in the security of their communications and sent many sensitive messages unencrypted via these undersea cables. Soviets eventually learned of the operation from Ronald Pilton, a turncoat formerly employed by the NSA. He walked into their embassy in 1980 to sell secrets after falling into debt.
