How to Tip Properly When You're in a Restaurant

The story goes back in the 1850s or 1860s, wealthy Americans discovered the tradition of tipping while vacationing in Europe. Masters would give their servants or slaves, tips for good work. Tipping stuck around when slavery was abolished in the 1800s under the presidency of Abraham Lincoln. The state of Iowa actually banned it in 1915, saying that anyone caught tipping would be fined or even sent to jail.
