There's probably over 150,000 fly species and we use a single one. We can consistently then control how often they're going through their generations and their life cycles. The ones we keep in here are pretty clean and it's a closed colony so we don't introduce any wild flies to this colony. So the older ones are going to smell a little bit differently just because they've had their protein,. They're going to excrete things and poop all over the cages.
