The fire started at a bakery in pudding lane. It ultimately took 13 thousand 500 houses, 87 parishes and churches. The cathedral made of stone and lead roofing was one of the few buildings inside the city walls that wasn't immediately combustible. I heard that it got so hot that it actually melted the metal framework of that ceiling.
