In a traditional 442, what you would have is one adventurous fullback and one conservative fullback. The point of the adventurous fullback in the 442 was to combine with the winger in the wide space to overwhelm in that wide space. This last season, teams in the big six when they were playing a back four formation, their fullbacks played about 3.9 crosses per 90. There is no other season in the last 12 years where fullbacks in a back four played under 4.8 crosses per 90,. They're basically always between 4.8 and 6.2. So there's a huge drop just last season in crosses played by fullbacks. But all things since this actually does show
