It Ain't Me Babe by Volman and Kaylin
Volman and Kaylin's version of It Ain't Me Babe became a national top ten hit. The Turtles were rapidly becoming part of the inkrowd, but they needed a follow-up single. P.F. Sloan had something for them called Let Me Be which was rebellious enough to make them seem a little bit daring. They didn't think they would do it justice, and so it was passed on to Barry McGuire.
