The Philosopher's Theory of the Forms
Philosopher king is an undemocratic elitist. He thought that people who'd got that understanding were the ones who deserved to be listened to. His drawing socrates very directly says it does not matter if the ideal republic, the kind of republic he's sketching, is politically possible or ever existed. In this respect, it's a fiction, like the garden of eden. Just as in the Garden of eden, adam and eve are ruled by wonderful ideal passions and love and so on, until the fall.
