The Eastlyn Paradox and Happiness
In 1974, the economist and historian Richard Eastlyn argued that economic growth in Japan has not made people's lives better by their own reports. In 2008, Betsy Stevenson and Justin Wolfers revisited the paradox and found no evidence of a satiation point beyond which wealthier countries could have no further increases in subjective well-being. On which side of the debate do you fall? Both for a reason that I think is very clear and technological.
