Stoics want to say that anybody who is not trying, or is not succeeding in being a stoic is actually a slave. It doesn't matter they could be the freest and wealthiest person in the world, if they are not in control of their desires,. If they are in thralled to a needs and othero impulses, then, in that sense, they're self enslaved.
