The Black Stunt Mandant's Struggle for Jobs in the Seventies

In 19 76, the association filed a lawsuit against the major hollywood studios. Their main goal was to stop paint down and another associated practice called igging. That's where a male stunt man wears a wig or a dress to double as a woman. The ground breaking legal action led to several major studios paying compensation to stump performers. But although more work was opening up for black stunt men, alec says they still faced raceism on set.
