Are You a Catholic?

i think the lord does want us to be one, and wants a sort of unity among essentials. But then i suppose the question then is, like, what's essential and what isn't? And that's where we disagree. I don't happen to agree with all the historical precedents that caused a certain expression of catholicism to land on rome as having some sort of unique centrality. If you are persuaded of that, then i'm not catholic. The key distinction here is what do we believe about the historical shaking out of where the authority christ clearly vested the church with?
