Do People Identify at All With Being of a Samurai Class?

In japan, do people identify at all with being of the samurai class or origin? Does it have any status value? That's a really interesting question. People feel connected to r mediaeval war lords. There is constant interest for that. Even in terms of official government, there is continuity with ther primoden warriors. You still do see people, for example, in public life who are descended from prominent a samura,. But it's subdued in terms of the recognition value, the kind of star value of those names. It's subdued, i think, by choice, because of the complicated legacy of militarism in japanese history.
