The head of the nra, wain law pierre, has been so since 19 91. The book starts with this scene at wain la pierre's wedding. He doesn't want to get married and his best man slaps a hundred dollar bill on thedashboard of the jeep that they're in. But against his better instincts, wayne goes into the church and gets basically harangued into e into the wedding burid. And then just follows this terribly awkward, weird ceremony where wainlap can't make eye contact with his bride at any point.
