The Laws of Rome
There were two laws at that pointye. The first one concerned adultery, and was called the lake julia de audulters cocends. They can only be killed if they are caught in the father's house or in the woman's husband's house. It speaks to a change of the father still having ultimate authority over his daughter even when she's married.
