An octopus has an independent understanding of its environment and interacts with it accordingly, whereas so many animals seem to be geared mostly for basic survival. Octopusts are not a social creature; they live on their own from birth. They're also relatively sheltered in the sense that they're dependent young and their parents o their mother take care of them.
