The Pushback Against Young People Envying Older People's Experiences

"I envy something that's impossible," a young person looking at an older person says. "How do we actually navigate that space if we can identify that emotion?" the author asks. The world is very different now than it was when, say, your parents were younger and they were trying to deal with their own experiences of potential social rejection or all of the fears around how people are going to respond to them. That said, over time you get to a place where you're like, oh, why was I fearing that anyway? Right?
