Change Management - What's Your Vision?

The biggest challenge that I encountered was that Vera was a healthy organization doing good work, but there were no resources to start to tilt towards that vision. Most of the money that came into the organization is what's called restricted, meaning that it's for a particular purpose. So the organization was a little bit locked into the strategies of its funders rather than its own strategy. It took a few years to dig out of that hole and then also to persuade people within the institution, whether they were trustees or whether they were staff, that the work you're doing is good. And so we got to try something new and we have to be very forward oriented.
