The Uncertainty of Antidepressants

There's still fundamental debate on how SSRIs exert anti-depressant effects or if they even are effective antidepressants. So for better or worse, it is exploratory basic science because there is no other way to do it at this point. But the problem is what is good? I mean, you have human clinical trials and depression rating scales,. which themselves have their own limitations.
