The Role of the 1996 Dickey Amendment in Gun Policy
There are no data sets that collect this information systematically or at least comprehensively. And so in order to see a law effect on that kind of noisy data, it would have to be very, very large and probably larger than we could expect from an assault weapons ban. There's also problems with, as I was mentioning, defining what a mass shooting is. So you can get a lot of different answers depending on your definitions rather than the data you use.
