The Battle of Asculum
In the spring of 279, he renewed his offensive against the Roman state. He marched his forces to the east where he met up with another Roman force at the Battle of Asculum. At the last second, Fyrus decided to send in his elephants in a flanking maneuver. The Romans had absolutely no answer to this whatsoever. They got stopped on. Humans say that the Romans lost about 15,000 plus during this battle. In fact, it was this battle that coined the term "Fyrric victory"
