How do we get to this idea that the orphic tradition was primarily concerned with the after life? Well, i think it comes back to just what we know about orpheus. He travelled to the underworld and back he had this catabasus, and he learned a few things down there. So between that and this later connection between zagreus and his mother, persephone, we have this combining of ideas that end up pointing towards the underworld and the after life.
