Food frequency questionnaires or 24-hour recalls are not particularly accurate when it comes to quantifying sodium intake. Urinary samples are typically the best, but even calibrating against a subset of the cohort based on a single 24-hour measurement is likely to have a substantial error. And indeed, that appears to be the case with quite a big difference between the mean food frequency questionnaire sodium estimates and the biomarker calibrated sodium intake.
