The nen rebellion, that had begun in 18 51 and would last till 18 68, would bring a lot of hardship and torment to te provinces. The top leadership of the typing heavenly kingdom was divided, and they'd be at each other's throats in a few years time. In 18 53, when all this is happening, the foreign owrs who were feasting on china's bounty as both a sorts of manufactures and for its massive consumer market, well, they hopped up on the fence. They figured, for now they'd remain neutral and see how this whole thing played out. And for the next seven years, that's what they did.
