Yoritomo and the Imperial Court

Yoritomo was quite powerful, particularly in areas like the conto and greater tokio area. The imperial court had been forced to accommodate yoritomo's rise to prominence but it was not eliminated from power altogether. This was a time of delicate balance between the court and the new government that would then be test in a series of political shifts.
