Rainmaker Charles Hatfield (San Diego Flood!)
Jimmy Akin's Mysterious World
00:00
Charles's Life and Work
In the 1930s, by that point, the Great Depression had started. Charles was no longer doing rainmaking gigs after about 1930. He moved back to Glendale, California in the Los Angeles area where he took up selling sewing machines again. In 1956, Paramount Pictures released a film starring Bert Lancaster and Catherine Hepburn called The Rainmaker. It was based on a 1954 play of the same name, and it was kind of sorta not really based on Charles's life.
