The Compliance of Configuring a Mail System for Compliance
The biggest problem here at the end of the day was the complexity required for configuring this system to do all the things that we needed it to do. So I said 400 or 500 lines of configuration. That probably doesn't sound like a huge number, but when it's in a kind of bespoke configuration language that's unlike the configuration of any other system. It's maybe also worth mentioning that the problem of logging all of your messages for compliance purposes may sound easy, but it's made more complicated by the fact that Jane Street operates in lots of different regulatory regimes.
