Romans Are Not Easterners

In session one and two of our podcast, we've been looking at the scripture as an eastern book. Romans are westerners. They're not easterners. And so they are not easterners who value a treasure hunt buried in the text. In a roman world, a truly rRoman world, mark knew that that kind of gospel is not going to fly. He bounces from story to story, keeping characters moving and jesus very busy. But he also plays to the four pillars of hellenism: education, health care, entertainment and competition.
