The History of the Morality Plays
In the early 15 hundreds, performers at the royal court started to perform short skits and sketches that didn't have anything to do with the church. These types of plays were soon performed for the general public in courtyards and town squares. And again, this new style of play proved to be very popular with audiences. It marks the point when english drama began to take shape outside of the confines and limitations of the church.
