Tolkien's Lord of the Rings
Tolkien wasn't perhaps totally on the same pages Lewis when it comes to inserting a more obvious sort of Christian undertones second level of meaning because you don't seem to see that obviously quite as much in Lord of the Rings. They're engaging in different modes and I think part of that might be that Lewis in his interest in medieval literature is actually a bit later of Tolkien's very Anglo-Saxon. So what Tolkien has done is he's built an entirely self contained secondary world with no direct connection to what he would call the primary world.
