Nonprofits and the Bad Apple Critique
Sally Kohn: We try to divert away from this critique of, oh, let's pick out the nonprofits where bad people are doing bad things. That's kind of an iteration of like the bad apple critique, right? Once we get rid of those few bad apples, then the nonprofit sector as a whole is fine. She says NGOs are structurally reliant on funding in a way that leaves them ultimately under the undue influence of capital’s interest.Kohn: By their like, in order for them to survive, they have to placate particular interests. It sort of limits their ability to engage in politics.
