The Economic Impact of AI on the Real World Economy
The most important benchmark or indicator of kind of scary AI progress from my perspective is the usage of AI systems to automate AI R&D. I think it's better to say like, what's at stake in those terms? Why do we want to know whether those terms apply? And I think economic impact is a very good point of focus there. It's not clear why it matters which what we dub intelligence or understanding or the verbal debates about which folk theoretical terms we will apply to our AI's win.
