What Is Liberation Theology?
LZ: liberation theology is a name for theologians who try to think about their faith from the perspective of oppression and liberation. LZ: It emerges really in Latin America in the late 60s and early 70s, with people like James Cone or Rosemary Radford-Ruther. There are other kinds of revolutionary theologies that are different, but as it relates to liberation theology specifically, there is black liberation theology. And all these different strands create theology, etc. If there's a liberation movement, there's probably a theology for it," LZ says.
