A Discourse on Vocations
Sed Contra: A Podcast of Catholic Theology
Is There a Commitment to Singleness?
I think it can be misleading to line up vocation with a state of life in a kind of a one-to-one fashion. I would push back against calling singleness a state oflife, because it seems to me that what really makes astate of life something stasis is some sort of vow and commitment. So for those who live the single life, the thing that they've received that empowers them or commits them to pursue holiness is baptism and confirmation most of all. There is a commitment there, but it's the general commitment to the call to holiness in the lay state - without the further specification of matrimony.
