If you have no particular reason to approach what somebody's saying with skepticism or belief, then you're just going to assume what you're hearing is true. Most of the time we don't want to do that and most of the time that's how you need to interact in order to function effectively. And if you're constantly doubting, you never make progress in a conversation.
