The Effects of Using a Short Shutter Speed

The shutter speed is where the shutter blades, this device that allows the light to reach the sensor. A short shutter speed is when these blades are open for a very, very brief period of time - maybe even 1000th of a second. The advantage of using a fast shutter speed is that it allows you to record action clearly and sharply. But if say you're photographing a car, well, if the camera shutter is open for half a second, that car is going to move during that exposure. You end up with a blurred exposure as this subject has moved during the time the shutter is open.
