Is There a Zero Discount Rate in the Future?
There's a whole literature on long-termism and what does that imply for discount rates. Discount rates can make sense when you're thinking about like relative prices given that uh you can save money and interest and then buy things for less in the future. The impact of promoting an idea today might potentially have if it takes off and becomes very very common over hundreds of years. We are mostly going for the advocacy leverage there perhaps rather think about what what impact or what will happen to children but we focus on people's careers.
