The History of the Federal Reserve's Rate Cuts

There was a lengthy period of time between the final rate hike in June of 2006 and the initial rate cut, which didn't start until September of 2007. Back then, remember subprime was contained; the Fed was still again more worried about the tight labor market,. Then all that nonsense about subprime mortgages and all that. In January 2008, it really accelerated. The FOMC got together, said this stuff is really starting to go wrong, they cut the federal funds target by 125 basis points.
