Jason Gural is the author of several books, including Forgotten Work and On Browsing. He grew up near a few malls that his family and he frequented: Cloverdale, Sherwood Garden, Square One. When I was a kid, these malls were relatively modest affairs. They sort of were human scale to some extent. But they've since metastasized in recent years; become very, very upscale.
