Is It the Left, or the Left?
The greatest, most powerful form of identity politics is white supremacy. That outweighs all the others combined. But that was always just taken to be natural, so you didn't bother talking about it. Now other groups are pressing for their own rights and identity. It's a search for rights over a broader range than just the dominant sectors. You can ask whether they're doing it in the right way, sometimes not - but it's not the left.
