The best way to ask somebody to go is just to have a frank conversation with them and say that look when we hired you these were the things that we had in mind. But I think it has to be performance driven unless you know there is completely inappropriate behavior. So again if the person believes that they have a good opportunity currently in your company and they need more guidance then what they are getting they will stay otherwise they will look at it as a sign and they will leave.
